Edgell, Kessler, Minard, Ross, Mitchell, Love, Oliverio,
Caldwell, Rowe, Hunter, Facemyer, Redd, Sprouse, Minear, Deem and
Tomblin, Mr. President)
Recognizing the achievements of "Mountain Stage".

Whereas, "Mountain Stage", now in its eighteenth season, has
emerged as a true production for the performing arts; and

Whereas, "Mountain Stage" has gained international audiences
with its broadcasts outside the United States via the "Voice of
America"; and

Whereas, "Mountain Stage" is the largest presenter of live
musical performances in West Virginia and brings nearly 110
different performers from around the world to West Virginia each
year; and

Whereas, "Mountain Stage" has showcased an eclectic array of
music from bluegrass to pop, performed by talented and widely known
performers; and

Whereas, Much of the success of "Mountain Stage" is attributed
to host and coproducer Larry Groce, a native of Texas, who chose to make West Virginia his home during the early 1970s. His love and
passion for music, together with his knowledge and expertise of the
industry, has earned him the respect and admiration of the music
industry; and

Whereas, Andy Ridenour, coproducer of "Mountain Stage" and
originally from Washington, D. C., has also made West Virginia his
home. His knowledge and production talents have helped to make
"Mountain Stage" an outstanding Public Broadcasting System program;
and

Whereas, Without the talent and professional abilities of
Larry Groce and Andy Ridenour, "Mountain Stage" would not be the
symbol of West Virginia's commitment to culture and the arts that
it is today; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:
